The highlight of the night is to crown our next Breast Cancer Survivor Queen!
The Breast Cancer Fundraiser is in honor of Libbie Obina Reddic. One of her most memorable times in her life as a teen was being crowned queen and she always talked about how special the night was for her. The pageant gives girls ages 4 to 21 the same opportunity to feel special in their beautiful ballgowns and be presented to family and friends as young ladies of Christ. At the same time, it honors and supports those that have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Each girl receives a chance to raise money for a worthy cause and contribute something positive back to society.
At the age of 67, she passed on October 28, 2013, at East Texas Hospice of breast cancer, but the spirit of Libbie Reddic and her legacy does not end with tragedy. Libbie Reddic was a survivor in every way from beating Tuberculosis as a teenager to fighting through chemotherapy and radiation with stage four breast cancer. Her spirit lives through all participants that are presented in the pageant and to every patient that is fighting to beat breast cancer. Every time the bell is rung by a surviving breast cancer patient, her fight is heard and released for all to hear. Her spirit and story live on through her children and grandchildren. Her contribution to this world will never die and her amazing-angelic and beautiful life will be shared with all forever!
