Architecture and Construction/STEM Careers
Cherie Jones enjoys the profession of architecture and construction. She started out in Mechanical Engineering the Fall of 1996 at Texas A&M, but there was something else calling her into another profession. She calls it a prayer and vision God gave her to build her freshman year of college. She took one class in architecture her sophomore year in Environmental Design and was hooked. She changed her major to Environmental Design her sophomore year in the College of Architecture and a year later double majored in Construction Science. It took six years, but after 173 hours of classes she graduated with 2 degrees May 2002. Later, she wanted to learn more about the financial side of business and decided to receive her Masters in Business Administration. She aspires to receive her Masters in Architecture from Arizona State University.
Cherie enjoys sharing her love for the building and architecture profession with teens. She never received any information about this profession in high school and truly feels as though the more she spreads the word about a career in Construction and Architecture with an added mix of Christianity in your daily career walk can make a difference in this society. The STEM camps/seminars and girls conferences she has created is an opportunity for teens to learn from other professionals doing well in the STEM industry.
We live in a very challenging and complex world and there is a need to have more Christian leaders ready to make a stand to do what is right. Life in the field and on jobsites has not always been great as a woman in a male dominated career, but she has always stood by her motto "YOU ARE ENOUGH, JUST BE YOURSELF"!!
She loves spreading this motto to other teens and encourages youth to believe all things are possible through Christ!
